Our History

Caldwell Constructors, Inc. was founded on May 5, 2005 by Gary F. Caldwell. After working with a few exceptional construction companies in the Upstate of South Carolina for 29 years, Gary decided it was time to venture out on his own. With extensive experience in commercial, institutional, ecumenical and industrial market segments, and management experience in both estimating and operations with these firms, the foundation was in place to begin a new company within the vibrant community of Greenville, SC.

Our initial clients were individuals and firms with whom Gary built relationships over the years. Through the recommendations of those key members of the community, we quickly developed a substantial client base. The company’s goal was to grow slowly as a result of selecting the right projects and scope that we could manage effectively, while producing exceptional and consistent results for our clients. Subcontractors and vendors have been instrumental in our success as well.

We appreciate their response and commitment to our approach to meeting our clients’ needs. The company has experienced very controlled and intentional growth since inception. Gary Caldwell

Gary-Caldwell

President

After working for his entire 35+ year career at other Upstate commercial construction firms, Gary decided to take the self-employment plunge by opening his own company in the spring of 2005. His tireless work ethic, incomparable leadership and strategic vision have set the foundation for the steady and sustained growth of the company. His unparalleled integrity is built from a strong history of community and charitable involvement with organizations like Habitat for Humanity, Cancer Society of Greenville County, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, the Poinsett Club, the Chamber of Commerce and Leadership Greenville. His passion and innovative approaches to projects make him a commodity in the construction industry.

David Caldwell

VP of Operations

David’s passion for top-notch quality is what drives him. He is a native of Greenville, went to JL Mann High School and is a 2007 graduate of Clemson University’s Construction Science and Management program. After school, David spent some time in both single-family and multi-family residential construction, but he is most passionate about helping local businesses with their commercial construction needs.

Brett Caldwell

VP of Preconstruction

After graduating from Clemson in 2003, Brett began his construction career working on complex nine-figure commercial projects along the Eastern seaboard. He began at Caldwell Constructors in 2005 and is now a stockholder and a LEED Accredited Professional. Brett grew up in Richmond, VA but now lives in Greenville with his wife and two sons.

Chris Norris

Senior Project Manager

Chris Norris brings over 20 years of commercial construction experience in medical, senior housing, and higher education projects. He has managed projects throughout the Carolinas with individual contracts valued over $60 million. His preconstruction and construction management experience will help Caldwell continue to expand their commercial projects.

Ed Waldrep

Project Manager

Ed began his construction career in 1985 as an estimator and project manager working on retail, ecumenical and institutional projects of various types. With nearly 3 decades of experience, he has gained valuable knowledge to help clients meet their goals. Ed has lived in the Upstate all of his life and in his spare time enjoys spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren and working in his workshop.

John Daniel

Project Manager

John moved to Charlotte in the summer of 2000 to leave the winters of Western NY and to begin his career in construction. After stops throughout the Carolinas, he has called Greenville home since 2005. His construction background includes multiple $60M+ retirement communities, healthcare and other various commercial projects.

Evan Jones

Project Manager

Evan’s construction roots go back to his time spent working with his grandfather’s construction company in Greenwood, SC. Equipped with a finance degree from Wofford College and valuable project management experience, Evan is a well-rounded member of our team.

Jason Pruitt

Project Manager/Superintendent

Jason began his career in commercial construction in 2000 after earning a degree in Construction Science & Management at Clemson University. With nearly 20 years of field and office experience, Jason is well prepared to manage both the field and office functions required for his projects.

Britain Means

Operations Administrator

Britain graduated from Auburn with a degree in Building Science and spent nearly ten years as an on-site project manager for large commercial projects across the Southeast. After relocating to Greenville, she joined Caldwell Constructors to help streamline our operational procedures and manage workflow.

Amanda O’Sullivan

Controller

Amanda oversees the accounting department and is responsible for all finances, corporate budgeting, and human resources. She works part-time and spends the rest of her days with her young children.

Rebecca Castles

Receptionist

Rebecca began her construction career on the rooftops in Tennessee where she was a missionary for the summer. She now helps keep our office running smoothly.
